Abstract
943,476. Dry processing of silver halide materials. W. ZINDLER, [trading as LUMOPRINTZINDLER KOMM. GES]. Dec. 7, 1959, No. 41565/59. Heading G2C. Photographic images are produced on silver halide emulsion material by dry processing, the developer and fixer being included in or applied to the emulsion-bearing material together with a fusible material which releases water on heating so that on simply heating development and fixing is effected. Thus, (1) the developer ,fixer and fusible materials may be included in the material carrying the emulsion; (2) the emulsion-carrying material may contain the developer and the fixer and fusible materials may be in a further layer applied to it before or after exposure; or (3) the developer, fixer and fusible materials may be applied by hand or mechanically to an ordinary silver halide material before or after exposure. In case (2), the second layer may also contain materials necessary for effecting silver halide diffusion transfer. The heating may be effected by the source of light which effects the exposure. In examples, a baryta paper is coated with (a) a fixer layer from a gelatin solution containing crystalline sodium thiosulphate, anhydrous potassium metabisulphite; (b) a developer layer from a gelatin solution containing anhydrous sodium sulphite and sodium carbonate, potassium bromide, crystalline sodium sulphite and either metol and hydroquinone or hydroquinone, 1- phenyl-3-pyrazolidone, and sodium hydroxide; and (c) a silver chloride emulsion layer containing crystalline sodium sulphate, hydroquinone, and 1 : 2 : 3-benztriazole, all the layers (a), (b), (c) also containing potash alum.
