Abstract

1,014,607. Photographic materials. KODAK Ltd. July 20, 1962 [July 20, 1961]. No. 27972/62. [Addition to 935,249]. Heading G2C. A light-sensitive material comprising an unfogged silver chloride, bromide or chlorbromide emulsion of the surface latent image type (Type II) and in the same layer or adjacent thereto a fogged silver halide emulsion of the latent image type (Type I) is developed with a developer having a greater solubility for silver bromide than that of a developer containing 5 grams of potassium bromide and 20 grams of anhydrous sodium sulphite per litre and less than that of a developer containing 35 grams of potassium bromide and 90 grams_ of anhydrous sodium sulphite, the solutions being free of antifoggants and other addenda which increase the rate of solution of silver bromide. Preferably the ratio of silver halide in the surface latent image emulsion to the external latent image emulsion is between 42:1 and 1:3. In the examples, the developers contain from 10 to 60 grams of anhydrous sodium sulphite and from 10 to 34. 5 grams of potassium bromide per litre.
