Abstract

[Also in Divisions E2 and F2] A device for connecting two members consists of two parts A, B, the part A having a cylindrical hole A<SP>3</SP> and the part B being in the form of a sleeve slit at B<SP>3</SP> and of slightly smaller external diameter than the internal diameter of the hole A<SP>3</SP>, a plug C of elastic material e.g. rubber or rubber substitute being fitted within the slit part of the sleeve B and having means for longitudinally compressing it so as to expand the slit part so that such part is a tight fit within the hole A<SP>3</SP>. The compression of the plug may be effected before the slit part of the sleeve B is inserted into the hole A<SP>3</SP> or afterwards. As employed for connecting two parts, e.g. an arm and a hand, of a lay figure, the part A fits within an aperture in the arm, has slots A<SP>2</SP> at its inner end for connecting it to the arm, and has a flange A<SP>1</SP> at its outer end which in the fixed position abuts against the end of the arm. The part B at its end remote from the end B<SP>3</SP> is slotted at B<SP>2</SP> and is provided with a flange B<SP>1</SP> for connecting it to the hand. To compress the plug C, a bolt D with a slotted head D<SP>1</SP> at one end and a nut D<SP>2</SP> at the other end is provided. Either or both parts A, B may be formed integrally with the members to be connected.
