Abstract

938,178. Connection of upper and insoles. A. BARKER & SONS Ltd. Feb. 15, 1961 [March 4, 1960], No. 7781/60. Class 17 (2). The upper 3 and lining 4 of a shoe are joined to the insole 1 by securing the lasted over portion of the upper and lining directly to an inwardly directed rib formed by attaching an initially separate strip 2 to the underface of the insole, the strip 2 extending either partially or wholly round the periphery of the insole. The upper and insole are further secured by stitching 7 within the horizontal channel defined by the rib which is subsequently secured upon the already attached portion of the strip 2. A welt 5 may also be attached in the stitching operation and outsole 8 (Fig. 3, not shown), then being provided secured to the welt 5.
