The flameproofing properties of a cable gland 5 passing through the wall of a flameproof enclosure are improved by the provision of a cylindrical member 10 with a flange 12 which fits over the body of the gland and is clamped between an enlarged portion of the gland and the wall of the enclosure by nuts 8, 9 inside the enclosure. Sealing gaskets 13 and 14 are placed between the wall and the cover 10 and between the cover and the gland 3 respectively, the gland 3 inside the cover 10 is protected by a neoprene muff 15.
