Abstract

934,259. Wall panels; curtain walling. PILKINGTON BROS. Ltd., T. A. MARKUS, and S. E. KAY. Dec. 2, 1960 [Dec. 4, 1959], No. 41341/59. Classes 20 (4) and 87 (1). In a wall panel comprising a sheet of glass 1 and a fibre board 2 contained within a metal frame, the members 4 of the frame are partly of box or cylindrical section and are provided with drainage holes 11, 11a for condensed moistures. Aluminium foil 3 may be bonded to the panel and the sheet 1 and board 2 may be separated by an air gap or bonded to an intermediate sheet of lead foil. The sheet 1 is supported in a channel of the frame by several plastic gaskets 7 or as shown in Fig. 4, is held by a rubber strip 7 to the side of the frame. Triangular fish-plates 17 may be provided at the corners of the panel. A wall comprises panels as above, fitted to a framework, or alternatively (Fig. 6, not shown), the sheets 1 and boards 2 are assembled in a frame provided with drainage holes, the frame being part of the metal framework of the wall itself.
