967,872. Explosion vent for buildings. PARKE, DAVIS & CO. Jan.10, 1961 [Jan.11, 1960], No. 1075/61. Heading A5A. [Also in Division E1] An explosion venting building enclosure comprises a flexible panel e.g. of transparent or translucent plastic 19 flexed into an outwardly bowed form and secured in a window opening 12 in a supporting frame 17, the bowed edges being sealingly engaged with outwardly extending arcuate lodges 18 in the frame and there being means for securing the panel in sealed relation on the frame against a predetermined pressure on the inside face whereby an explosion inside the building exerting a pressure on the inside of the panel causes the panel to be ejected from the frame. Modifications include the use of two spaced panels which may be both bowed (see Fig. 10, not shown) or of which one may be substantially flat and may be a conventional window (see Figs. 7 and 8, not shown).
