Abstract
933,177. Filters. BRITISH FILTERS Ltd. Dec. 1, 1961 [Jan. 30, 1961], No. 3399/61. Class 46. In a filtering pack comprising a series of filter mats h, each separated from its neighbour by a separator, e.g. an annular plate i having a flanged periphery and a ribbed upper surface, a tension spring o is provided for applying a substantially constant compressive force serving to hold the mats and separators in firm contact notwithstanding possible expansion and contraction of the mats. The spring is anchored at one end to an end plate p and at the other to a screw-threaded rod q limited in axial movement by a sleeve g and adjusted by a nut f and carried in a spider e fixed to the top plate c of a casing a. The spider forms part of a sleeve member r secured to the top plate c and carrying a cage members, the upper end of which is screw-threaded to receive a flanged ring t, by means of which the lower end of a, tubular member u may clamp a loose sleeve 81 on to the sleeve r with intervening sealing washers x. The casing has an inlet b at its lower end and a central outlet d at its upper end. Inlet holes k are drilled through the outer rim of each separator plate and holes y are drilled through an inner rim formed by a flange v surrounding a central hole therein.
