Abstract

932,563. Road vehicle couplings. J. BROCKHOUSE & CO. Ltd. Dec. 30, 1960 [Jan. 7, I960], No. 558/60. Class 103(5). A fifth wheel retractable undercarriage of the roller and ramp type having spring loaded toggle links and a locking catch adapted to be spring loaded to engage between one of the toggle links and a wheel supporting bracing member, comprises two spaced apart bracing members 10 cranked and pivoted at their upper ends to the trailer chassis 12, wheels 18 rotatable on stub axles 17 welded into the bracing members, and a rod or bar 21 welded to and extending between the bracing members but spaced away from the common centre line of the stub axles. Specification 919,696 is referred to as being an improved coupling of the type.
