[Also in Group XXV] A sealing device for a zip or toggle fastener comprises a housing 2 attached or adapted to be attached on or adjacent a fixed part 3 of a fastener and containing a resilient locking member 8 beneath an opening in the housing and a sealing element 9 adapted to be pressed over a movable part 1 of the fastener to cause a tab 9a on the sealing element to interlock with the resilient locking member to prevent movement of the movable part in an unfastening direction, the housing and the sealing element being thereafter immovable one from the other without permanently or visibly damaging one of the elements. The housing 2 in Figs. 1 and 2 is provided on its top flat surface with a pair of arcuate slots 2a, which register with corresponding arcuate slots 1a of the slider or movable part 1, the arcuate slots co-operating with similarly arcuate tabs 9a of the sealing element 9 and the seal is completed by the ends 8a of the resilient locking member entering a pair of transverse slots 9b in the tabs. The sealing element cannot be withdrawn from the housing without rupturing of the tabs 9a of the sealing element, which may be constructed of a soft or ductile material. The device may be unsealed by sharply lifting the sliding handle 1 or by levering upwards the free end of the latter by a special tool provided. Re-sealing is effected by a new second element, stocks of which would be carried by authorized persons. In another embodiment the sealing device is used on a toggle fastener (Fig. 6), comprising a bracket 10 on which a toggle lever 11 is pivotally mounted and carrying a locking finger 12 which engages a grooved catch piece 13 in the closed position. The toggle lever is formed with a pair of slots 11a, which in the closed position are in register with two slots 10a (not shown) and a sealing element 9 having straight tabs is inserted into the straight slots of the toggle lever and bracket 11 and 10, respectively, the manner of sealing and seal removal being identical.
