Abstract

927,056. Chair and divan frames. VITAFOAM Ltd. Feb. 26, 1962 [Nov. 26, 1960], No. 40710/60. Classes 52 (2) and 52 (4). A support member such as a chair bottom or back or a divan base comprises intersecting flexible strips 14, e.g. woven fibre glass, which are impregnated with a resin or other adhesive and bonded by heat and pressure to a rigid frame 13. A resin adhesive impregnated fibreglass matt may be inserted between the upper mould 15 and the strips 14 placed on the frame 13 and between the lower mould 10 and the frame before the application of heat and pressure. A divan base includes the support member plus a surrounding frame 18 of a reinforcement of resin impregnated paper 20 between two layers of resin-impregnated fibreglass matt 19 placed in an integral extended part 10a, 15a of the mould.
