[Also in Division B6] A drawing-board, which may form part of a draughting machine or stand comprises a panel having upper and lower skins, a cellular, preferably honeycomb, core, and, on at least one side, a layer of synthetic plastic material selfsealing to drawing instrument points and a supporting layer of harder synthetic plastic which may constitute the top panel of the board. As shown, metal skins 1, peripherally dished as at 3, enclose a paper honeycomb 6 which may be resin-impregnated, and are joined at their edges by a peripheral moulding 8 of H-section, the exposed surface of which is shaped to conform to the edge of the board, the enclosed portion being of rectangular section or moulded as at 11. The upper surface, or both surfaces, carries or carry a hard plastics layer 5a, e.g. of unplasticized polyvinyl chloride covered by a softer, self-sealing layer 5, e.g. of plasticized polyvinyl chloride. In a modification rectangular metal or plywood skins enclosing a paper honeycomb are closed around their edges by a wooden frame having a peripheral groove in its edge into which is secured a tongued portion of an edge-covering strip of plastic material. The tongued portion may be serrated and/or may be secured by adhesive. The honeycomb core may be made of aluminium strip. Specification 902,742 also is referred to.
