Abstract
926,773. Outboard motors. J. G. A. WAY HOPE. Sept. 21, 1961 [Oct. 12, 1960], No 34995/61. Class 114. An outboard motor of the type having a driving shaft tube 17 between an engine and a propeller, which is supported on a stern bracket 11 by top and bottom clamps 16 and 19, has a further connecting element, e.g. a bracket 23 secured to deck inboard to which the clamp 16 can be secured when the tube 17 is released from the bracket 11 (Fig. 1 shows the unit supported in both positions). The clamp 16 comprises a hook 15 which may be secured over the pivot 13 or the bolt 26 of the bracket 23, in the latter case the bolt may be tightened to secure the hook. The unit may be supported by a stay (not shown) when outboard from the pivot 13. In a further embodiment the bracket 23 is integral with, or attached to the bracket 11, e.g., by an adjustable stay. Another embodiment describes two deck brackets. Specification 588,464 is referred to.
