Abstract

925,651. Ironing presses. WARD INDUSTRIES CORPORATION. Jan. 21,1960 [Aug. 3, 1959], No. 2301/60. Class 138 (2). A garment pressing machine has means for independently initiating and controlling the operation of a collar pressing buck 11 and a dual cuff pressing buck 12. The invention enables a shirt collar on buck 11 to be given a longer pressing time than a pair of cuffs on bucks 12. The bucks 11, 12 are movable on tracks 17, 18 from the loading position shown to a pressing position beneath heads 33, 48, respectively. This movement is effected by pneumatic cylinders (as 38 for buck 11) through pivoted links (as 43) and lost motion links (as 44). When the buck reaches its pressing position it operates a microswitch controlling the air supply to operate a piston to raise the buck. An electrically-operated timer controls the pressing time, at the end of which the buck is returned by a spring 45. Garment supporting trays 31, 32 are fixed to the bucks 11, 12.
