924,186. Heating by circulation of fluids. WARMAC Ltd. Aug. 31, 1961 [Sept. 9, 1960], No. 31067/60. Class 64 (2). In a liquid feed arrangement in which a liquid is fed into a container 15 in a turbulent or agitated manner, a localized enclosure 20 is provided in the region of turbulence or agitation and an atmosphere of an inert gas (e.g. nitrogen) maintained within predetermined pressure limits, is provided above the liquid level in the enclosure 20. The invention is shown as applied to the pressurized-water, space-heating system described in Specification 814,729, the container 15 comprising an open, low-pressure water vessel which accommodates expansion water from a high-pressure water vessel 13, the latter being connected through a line 14 with the space heating circuit 11 which includes a boiler 12. The enclosure 20 is defined by an upright tube 16 which projects into the liquid in container 15. The tube 16 is open at its lower end. Expansion water from the high pressure vessel 13 flows by way of line 25 to the tube 16 and thence into the container 15. Return liquid re-enters the vessel 13 by way of line 26, isolator valves 33, filters 34, one-way valves 35 and pumps 32, the pumps being controlled by a pressuresensing device 29 which also controls a valve 28 in the line 25. The liqud level in container 15 is maintained by a float valve 18 feeding from an external water supply 17 into the top of tube 16. Nitrogen is applied to the space 20 from a gas cylinder 21, the connecting pipe line 22 including pressure-reducing valves 23, 24. The requisite high pressure in the vessel 13 is maintained from the cylinder 21 through a line 36 which includes a pressure-reducing valve 37.
