Abstract
923,592. Vehicle wheels. DAYTON STEEL FOUNDRY CO. May 8, 1961 [May 11, 1960], No. 16573/61. Class 144 (2). In a dual rim and spoked wheel assembly wherein the inboard rim 11 is wedged against a coned surface 16, provided on a radial flange 18 at the inboard edge of each spoke end surface 14, by means of a spacer ring 13, the outboard rim 12 and a series of clamps 29 bolted to the outboard faces of each spoke 10, the rim 11 having a coned surface 23 complementary to the surface 16, the said surface 16 terminates abruptly at its radially inner end in a rim aligning abutment surface 17 of steeper slope for positive abutment with a corresponding surface 24 on the radially inner end of the rim surface 23 to align the rim on the wheel body. As shown, the outboard rim 12 is formed with coned abutment and wedging surfaces 28, 26, corresponding to those 24, 23 of the inboard rim to provide for interchangeability of the rims, the surface 26 of the outboard rim co-operating with a coned surface 33 of each of the clamps 29.
