A chair has secured to the underside of the seat 1 a plate 2 having its opposed side edges formed with integral channel-shaped portions 4, 4a, 5, 5a respectively which engage the neck portions 8, 11 of pairs of legs 6, 7, 9, 10 and are secured by a bolt 12. Legs 9, 10 have welded thereto stays 13, 14 which carry a back-rest 15.
