Abstract
922,704. Idlers for endless belt-conveyers. TULLY ENGINEERING CO. Ltd., and E. H. G. ARAM. Nov. 5, 1960, No. 38111/60. Class 78 (1). A moulded idler element has a flexible core from around which two moulded helical webs project at opposite sides of a central transverse plane, the idler element being suspendable in catenary form. The convolutions of the helical webs have a centrallizing effect on a conveyer belt. As shown, a flexible core 1a carries, at opposite sides of a plane P, two moulded helical webs 1b 1c. The core is also provided with moulded annular webs 1d. The convolutions of the helical webs may be of the cross-section shown in Fig. III. When a loaded belt is supported on the assembly, the moulded webs are deflected towards the centre of the assembly and cause the belt to maintain a central position. An end spindle 5 is bonded into each end of the core la and is supported in brackets 2, 3.
