Abstract

922,347. Dispensing fluids by gaseous pressure. UNION CARBIDE CORPORATION. Aug. 5, 1959 [Nov. 21, 1958], No. 26660/59. Class 102(2). A liquid or powder sprayer comprises a liquid or powder container 14 and a propellant gas container 12 connected to a fitting 20 on the container 14 by a tube 68 through a self closing valve 18 which is manually opened slightly before the valve V controlling the discharge from the dip tube 24 in the container 14. The dip tube 24 carries a weight 70 and for dispensing dust the tube is connected to a " J " shaped rigid tube 22 the other end of which is connected to the fitting 20. The tube 22 has a gas port 78 so that the gas entering the container 14 when the valve 18 is opened loosens the dust and subsequently when the valve V is opened the dust is discharged through a second port in the tube 22. For dust discharge a clean gas port 82 is also opened. For liquid discharge the tube 22 is removed. The fitting 20 may include a pressure relief valve. In a modification the gas container is mounted within the liquid container.
