A chair has a body part 11 carried on a support 12 constituted by two side pieces 14 and a cross rail 15, each piece 14 comprising an upright 16 integral with an armpiece 17 and legs 18. The cross rail 15 has a tapered lug at each end which joins tightly into a boss 21 formed integrally with each side piece at the junction of parts 16, 18 but the rail 15 is capable of torsional movement to accommodate unevenness of flow surface.
