Abstract

917,189. Mop holders; mops. CALLAWAY MILLS CO. March 22, 1961 [Jan. 9, 1961], No. 10395/61. Classes 19 and 61. A collapsible holder for a pocketed mop comprises a rigid frame consisting of wings 13, 26 and a cross-bar 11, a handle universal joint 39 being rigidly fixed at one end to a central part of the bar 11. The legs 14, 15 of the wing 13 are rigidly fixed as by welding to the ends of the cross-bar 11. The legs 28, 29 of the wing 26 are looped at 32, 33 around the cross-bar 11 so as to be slidable and rotatable thereon. The legs 28, 29 extend beneath the extremities of the legs 14, 15 and are stressed so that they tend to spring outwardly. Terminal upstanding pins 36, 37 are provided at the extremities of the legs 28, 29 which can be squeezed towards each other to release the latching action and permit the wing 26 to swing downwardly. The universal joint 39 includes an upper pivot axis 52 parallel to the cross-bar 11, a lower pivot axis 44 at rightangles thereto and brake means for resisting movement about each axis. In a modification, Fig. 6 (not shown), the legs of the first wing are provided with annular members receiving the ends of the cross-bar and held thereon by pins passing through the annular members and cross-bar.
