Abstract

913,031. Tube couplings. UNITED FLEXIBLE METALLIC TUBING CO. Ltd. June 21, 1961, No. 22495/61. Class 99(1). A flexible tube has an end coupling comprising a connector element 1 having an externally screwed, tubular extension 3 located within the bore of the tube and in screw-threaded connection therewith and an external shoulder 2 against which one end of the tube abuts, and a separate cylindrical sleeve 8 surrounding the tube with one of the end faces of the sleeve abutting the shoulder, the sleeve being compressed inwardly at a selected area or areas to grip the tube. As shown, the flexible metal tube 6 has an external sheath 7 of, for example, polyvinyl chloride, and a coiled spring 10 limits flexing of the tube in the vicinity of the end of the extension 3. The latter is secured in the tube by an adhesive.
