Abstract
910,284. Suction cleaners. ELECTROLUX Ltd. March 26, 1959 [April 1, 1958], No. 10567/59. Class 8(1). The top of the casing 11, Fig. 7, of a cylindrical suction cleaner has sections at two different levels connected by a sloping portion and the handle 15 is connected to the higher level close to the sloping portion and to the lower level remote from the sloping portion. A strip 45 of substantially inverted U-shape extends along the top of the casing and is provided with openings 47, 48 for the handle 15. The handle is made from a resilient plastics material and the right hand end of the handle is inserted from below through the opening 48 and then through the opening 47 from above. Suitable flanges are provided to fin the handle in the strip which is then mounted on the casing by screws such as 66. The strip may also enclose a switch mechanism as described in Specification 910,285. An end cover 21, Fig. 13, is pivoted at 70 to the casing and is provided with releasable fastening means in the form of a lever 85, pivoted at 87 and provided with flanges 92 which engage recesses 93 on an end ring 71. The cover houses a cable reel as described in Specification 910,287.
