Abstract

907,515. Clamp fastenings. SUPER MOLD CORPORATION OF CALIFORNIA. Feb. 29, 1960 [March 23, 1959], No. 7058/60. Class 44. [Also in Group V] A locking-ring 2 comprising three pivoted sections for a tyre retreading mould 1, is locked by a pin 22 on links 21 which engages in a notch 23 in a lever 24 pivoted at 25. Further tightening of the clamp may be obtained by rotating a screwthreaded handle 14 to retract a pin 13 and cause a shank 12 to move the ring sections 4, 5 closer together. When the clamp is released, cams 35, 39 on the levers 11, 24, respectively, engage pivoted levers 32, 36 to cause the ring sections to break away from the mould. Fingers 40, Fig. 7, are provided at the pivoted joints of the ring to cause the ring to break away from the mould at these points. A spring clip 45 around the hinge pin 42 has fingers 46 to prevent the ring sections from opening too far. To prevent accidental opening of the ring, a bar 28 pivoted to the shank 12 overlaps both links 21, so that the clamp can not be opened until the operator swings the bar, by a thumbpiece 30, into a horizontal position between the links.
