Abstract
896,674. Hooks AIRCRAFT MATERIALS Ltd., and GOULD, G. H. Jan. 19, 1961 [Feb. 12, 1960], No. 5092 /60. Class 89(2). A snap-hook comprises a body 10 having a pivot 13 for a gate biased by a spring 17 to close the hook, the gate having a limb 14a for closing a zone 15 of the hook and a limb 14b for closing a zone 16, and the limbs being displaced in sequence by introducing into zone 16 a ring &c. 22 which can be withdrawn only' after two further and substantially full displacements of the gate. The first of these allows the ring to pass from zone 16, Fig. 3 (not shown), to the space between the limbs 14a, 14b from which it may pass above limbs 14a only when the gate is again closed. From this position, the ring may be withdrawn when the gate is opened for the second time. A recess 18 in the top limb 10b of the hook receives the limb 14a, and one formed by sidestiffening plates and an abutment 19 receives limb 14b when the hook is closed. A lateral projection (not shown) on the gate may transmit load from the gate to the top limb 10b.
