Abstract
894,401. Sliding clasp fasteners. GILCHRIST & FISHER Ltd. Oct. 16, 1958 [Oct. 24, 1957; Dec. 30, 1957], Nos. 33204/57 and 40245/57. Class 44. A sliding clasp fastener has two tapes with teeth thereon which are interengaged by two sliders 4, 9 movable towards each other along the teeth to close the fastener and away from each other to open the fastener, the slider 4 having a tag 5 which has a portion 6 for engagement with a lock 8 on the slider 9. The invention is also applicable to a pair of fasteners having single sliders. The lock, attached to a plate 10 which is hinged about a bridge 9a of the slider 9, serves as a tag, and an extension 12 of the plate 10 may be provided for finger engagement. In modifications, a plate may be interposed between the slider 9 and the plate 10, and the lock 8 is hinged to the bridge 9a of the slider 9. In another modification Fig. 7, the plate 10 is cranked at 10a so that the lock is in the same plane as the slider 9, and a plate 17 is interposed between the slider 4 and the tag 5.
