Abstract

906,135. Double twist delivery spindle. NIMTZ, H., and NIMTZ, K., [trading as VOLKMANN & CO.]. Feb. 4, 1960, No. 4034/60. Class 120 (2). In a method of drawing off the threads from stationary double-wound supply packages of double twist delivery spindles using a thread guiding element 2 which is dragged by the threads, the point 4 at which the threads are deflected at the draw-off element 2 is arranged to move radially inwards as the package diameter decreases so that the angle between the threads being drawn off and the periphery of the package is maintained approximately constant. In the form of Figs. 1 and 2, the thread guiding element is a flyer 2 having a number of notches 5 to successively receive and guide the threads which automatically slip over retaining hooks 7 and along interconnecting slipways 11 as the package diameter decreases. Alternatively, the notches may be formed in a single arm flyer or in a disc (see Fig. 4, not shown). In further forms having disc flyers the notches may lie along a secant of the disc or as is shown in Fig. 5 along a spiral extending from the periphery to the central region of the disc. The flyers may be made from metallic or non- metallic material of low specific gravity, with abrasion resistant material at each notch, the retaining hooks and the rim of the disc.
