Abstract
903,122. Hooks. LIFTING GEAR PRODUCTS (ENGINEERING) Ltd. March 29, 1961 [April 4, 1960], No. 11852/60. Class 89 (2). [Also in Group XXX] The jaws 19, Fig. 1, of a lifting-dog are closed by a pin 26 of a shackle 27 which slides up longitudinal slots in arms 12, 14 of the dogs as the shackle is raised. As described the arm 14 slides in a longitudinal slot in the arm 12. The shape of the longitudinal slots is shown in Fig. 3. In a second embodiment, Fig. 5, the slots are curved in the same direction throughout their length and the jaws are adapted for lifting cylindrical objects. A hook 47 attached to a shackle 44 engages a pin 48 to hold the jaws open. In both the embodiments the slots and/ or arms of the dogs may be shaped differently, e.g. straight, and the jaws may be profiled to engage objects of other shapes, e.g. I-section girders.
