Abstract

900,981. Road vehicle undercarriages. AUTOSET (PRODUCTION) Ltd. March 1, 1960 [Dec. 9, 1958], No. 39590/58. Class 108(2). A castor comprises a pair of spaced wheels 4, 4 each mounted for rotation in a fork 5 carried by a common bracket 7 rotatable on a generally vertical axis 9, each fork being connected to the bracket by a resilient suspension 10 whereby each wheel is independently sprung. Each suspension comprises a rubber block, for example of 75 Shore hardness, bonded to or mechanically connected between clamping plates 12, 13. The bracket 7 may be temporarily locked to the superstructure by a bar inserted in registering holes and a screw operated brake pad 22 is provided for each wheel.
