Abstract
545,704. Spring-suspension systems. DUNLOP RUBBER CO., Ltd., and SADLER, S. Dec. 6, 1940, No. 17366. [Class 108 (ii)] In independent suspension systems in which the wheel 1 is guided vertically relatively to the vehicle framework 2 by a pivoted link structure 6, 3, 8, arranged transversely of the vehicle, a curved column of yielding material 10 is interposed between the lower link 8 and the frame 2 and flexible stabilising plates 14 prevent deformation of the column other than by axial compression. The link 8 may be of U-shape in plan to prevent longitudinal movement. The flexible plates 14 are clamped to the frame 2 at 18 and bonded or otherwise connected to the rubber or like material 10. In a modification the plates 14 are pivoted to the bar 9 to which the link 8 is pivoted.
