Abstract

900,293. Ingot-tong cranes. MASCHINENFABRIK DEUTSCHLAND A.G. Dec. 28, 1960, No. 44476/60. Class 78 (4). A pair of ingot tongs 6 guided by telescoping frames 2, 3 for vertical movement on an overhead travelling crane can be removed laterally from the bottom frame 2 after removal of a bearing cap 5 and keeperplates 7. The length of the side 3b of the frame 3 is less than half the length of the side 3a. The sides 3a are hollow and guide the ends of a cross-member 8 which supports the tongs. As described, the frame 2 is mounted on a crab 1 and as the tongs are raised by pulleys mounted on the cross-member 8 a stop 6a abuts the lower member 3c of the frame 3 and moves the frame upwards into the frame 2.
