A carton for packing flowers is made from a double-faced corrugated cardboard blank, (Fig. 1), having a base panel 7 connected along fold lines 8, 9, 10, 11 to wall panels, one pair of which is provided with fold lines 14, 15 along which the respective panels are folded to form double walls, when the box is erected. In the inner wall portions 17, 18 are cut slots 19, 20 having a saw-toothed profile, the teeth along one edge of each slot being staggered relative to the teeth along the other edge, and each portion 17, 18 ends in flaps 26 which reinforce the end wall panels 27, 28. Arcuate extensions 30 of the end walls 27, 28 are held between the double walls 17, 23 and 18, 24 respectively, when the box is erected. Openings 31 are provided to ventilate the box, Fig. 2, and the double walls are secured by staples 32. A cross-member 34, to hold the contents of the box in place, consists of a strip of the cardboard folded lengthwise and slit to form splayed ends 35. These ends are inserted between the inner and outer walls 17, 23 and 18, 24 through extensions 21, 22 of the slots 19, 20 and the member 34 is forced into contact with the box contents. The saw edges of the slots prevent upward movement of the member. For transport, a detachable lid (not shown) is provided.
