Abstract

895,805. Variable-speed gear. THOMA, H. Jan. 19, 1960 [Jan. 24, 1959], No. 1904/60. Class 80 (2). [Also in Groups XXVIII and XXIX] A hydrostatic transmission with a power split arrangement, comprise as swash-plate pump 1, Fig. 3, having a rotatable cylinder block fast with a driveshaft 10, differential bevel gearing 60, 61, 61, 64 and a swash-plate motor 1<SP>1</SP> coaxial with and driven by the pump. The differential gearing comprises a gear 60 fast with the shaft 10, idler gears 61, 61, suspended in a cage 62 fast on an output shaft 63 and a gear 64 mounted on a tubular shaft 65 coaxial with the shaft 10 and secured to the motor cylinder block. Each cylinder block co-operates with a non-rotating valve plate 14 having a common set of bushings 15, 16 interconnecting the pump and motor and each valve plate is mounted adjustably with respect to the mating face of its associated cylinder block to permit of slight freedom of tilt. On the engagement of a mechanical clutch 68 the tubular motor shaft 64 is connected in a direct 1 to 1 ratio with the output shaft 63 so that the latter is driven both mechanically and hydraulically. Handles 70, 71 are fitted to adjust the angles of inclination of the pump and motor swash-plates respectively.
