Abstract

643,313. Revolving cylinder swash plate pumps. DOWTY EQUIPMENT, Ltd., and AMOR, D. R. P. Aug. 6, 1948, No. 20829. [Class 102 (i)] A swash plate pump has the plunger and cylinder assembly joined in contrarotating sections and the reactions of the forces developed in all the cylinders are taken by a single member. The pump has two assemblies 11, 12 rotated in opposite directions from a drive shaft 16 by bevel gears 13, 14 which engage a common bevel gear 15 on the drive shaft. Plungers 18 reciprocable in the cylinders 17 are actuated by swash plates 19, 20, journalled in a control ring 21 which is adapted to rock about trunnions 22 so as to vary the stroke of the pistons. The swash plates are maintained in engagement with their journals by springs 23, 24 and thrust members 31 are interposed between the plungers and their respective swash plate to ensure that the reactions of the co-axial plungers are approximately " in line." The outer ends of the cylinder assemblies 11, 12 engage valve plates 25, 26 respectively, which have arcuate slots 27, 28 communicating with conduits 29, 30 which may each be either the suction or delivery conduit according to the direction of the inclination of the swash plates.
