Abstract

895761 Fire extinguishing PYRENE CO Ltd 28 Feb 1961 [4 March 1960] 7789/60 Class 47 [Also in Group XXXVIII] A hand-operated fire extinguisher, from which CO 2 or other extinguishing gas is discharged, is provided with an audible alarm 5 through which some or all of the discharged gas passes. The alarm 5 may be a whistle or, as shown, it may be in the form of a siren consisting of a rotor 9 with slots 10 mounted inside a slotted housing 11. The gases from a discharge pipe 2 are deflected by a plate 13 to a space 14 and pass thence through the slots in the housing and rotor and finally through a discharge horn 4. To avoid freezing only a part of the issuing gases passes through the whistle when the latter is employed as the alarm device.
