Abstract

894,847. Inductances. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. Ltd., FIELDING, E. A., and ROLLIN, L. July 14, 1959 [April 14, 1958], No. 11848/58. Class 38 (2). A pot core of manganese zinc ferrite has its two parts 21, 22 (Fig. 3) held together by spring clips 34 to which are secured aluminium mounting-brackets 37. The inductance of coil 25 may be adjusted by grinding or by altering the position of screwed core insert 30 which may be encased in a moulded body of non-magnetic material 39 (Fig. 4). Alternatively the two core parts 41, 42 (Fig. 5) may be formed to provide an air gap 47 of varying depth which can be varied by relative axial rotation of the two parts. The core parts may be secured together by sealing wax around the outside across the join between them. According to the Provisional Specification the core and insert may be made of powdered metal with an insulating binder and the ends of the spring clips may engage projections instead of indentations.
