893,789. Rotary I.C. engines. DAIMLERBENZ A.G. Jan. 27, 1961 [Feb. 4, 1960], No. 3271/61. Class 110 (2). A rotary I.C. engine of the n and e+1 lobe type is provided with two fuel injection nozzles in each working chamber, by means of which fuel is injected before, or in the early stages of compression. The nozzles may be arranged one behind the other looking in the axial direction, as in Fig. 5 (not shown), and Fig. 7, one behind the other looking in a circumferential direction, as in Fig. 9 (not shown), and Fig. 12, or they may be staggered (Fig. 11, not shown), or disposed in the end walls, facing one another (Fig. 15, not shown). One or both nozzles may discharge into a region of air which will surround the sparking-plug, if one be fitted, during ignition, so that the local mixture is rich although the overall fuel: air ratio is too small for ignition. One nozzle may be rendered inoperative under light running conditions, so that the other nozzle will handle more fuel, and better atomization will result. More than two nozzles may be fitted in each working chamber.
