892,534. Plate type heat exchangers. KABLITZ, R. April 11, 1958 [Oct. 24, 1957], No. 11566/58. Class 64(3) In a heat exchanger comprising plates having banks of fins on either side, the fins are in longitudinal section, flat on one side and on the other of streamline form, the blunt leading edge of the form being extended to finish in a sharp leading edge, thus forming a substantially segmental shape. A counter flow heat exchanger is described with various arrangements of the fins, e.g. as shown in Fig. 3 with every sixth fin in each bank displaced to one side; disposed in pairs with the straight edges facing each other; the fins on one side of the plate as at 8 (Fig. 7) shorter than the fins 11 on the other side or vice-versa. Sealing grooves 14 are provided and a streamlined cover for protecting the upper parts 13 of the plates during cleaning is described.
