Abstract
890,287. Handles for containers. WILKIE & PAUL Ltd. April 22, 1960 [July 9, 1959], No. 23565/59. Class 66. [Also in Groups XXII and XXV] A bail handle 7 is mounted on a canister 2 by securing to opposing sides of the canister two headless rivets, each of which has a circumferential groove 9 near the outer end thereof, fitting the handle over the rivets and retaining it by circlips 10 or sheet metal clips 11, which are bent round the handle to retain the clip. Fig. 1, shows a clip mounted longitudinally of the handle and bent round at 14, and Fig. 4 shows a clip mounted transversely of the handle and bent round at each end 15. The rivets preferably have hollow ends 4 and are flared at 5 into contact with the can. A solid ended rivet and washer may be used. Specification 890,288 is referred to.
