Abstract
887,038. Bed settees. DUCROT, A. Sept. 21, 1960 [Sept. 22, 1959; Dec. 4, 1959; April 19, 1960], No. 32449/60. Class 52(2) A bed-settee has a seat element 3 carried on links 9, 10 pivoted to the frame 31 on pins 11, 12 and a back rest element 4 carried on links 19, 20 pivoted to the frame on pins 21, 22 and connected by link 24 to an extension of link 10 with pin 5 engaging slot 40, the back rest moving behind and below the seat in the sofa position. The lost motion of the pin and slot allows the seat to be pulled forward clear of the back rest before the latter begins to rotate. In a modification, Fig. 5, the back rest 4 is carried on a link 43 pivoted to the frame and has a slideway 42 engaging a fixed pin 41, like 43 being connected to link 9 by a link 37. In another embodiment, Fig. 9, each lower bellcrank lever 19 comprises a shorter arm 52 pivoted at 53 on a link 54 pivotally connected to a flap 56 pivoted on the bottom of element 4 and acting as a support for the cushioning 6 in the sofa position but being retracted in the bed position.
