Abstract
886,933. Electric incandescent lamps with cutouts. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. Nov. 3, 1960 [Nov. 18, 1959], No. 39150/59. Class 39(2) An electric lamp has a fuse connected in series with the filament within the envelope of the lamp, the fusible element being enclosed in a glass sheath open at one end, this end being directed towards the interior of the envelope so that vaporized material produced by the blowing of the fuse is directed into the lamp in the opposite direction away from the seal. A projection lamp consists of an envelope 1 to the base 4 of which is secured a cap 3. The filament 2 consists of parallel sections arranged in a plane, the sections being supported by hooks or wires 8 embedded in glass beads 9 carried by conductors 10 secured to frame members 5, are of which is attached to one of the lead-in conductors 7 and the other to a dummy lead 12. The other lead-in conductor 7<SP>1</SP> is connected to a fuse 19 consisting of a lead 22 to the conductor 7<SP>1</SP>, a fusible element 19<SP>1</SP> and a lead 21 to one of the frame members 5. The element 19<SP>1</SP> is enclosed in an open-ended glass tube 20 parallel to the longtitudinal axis of the lamp with the open end directed away from the base 4. The element 19<SP>1</SP> is of dumet and the leads 21, 22 of nickel. The cap 3 is secured to the base 4 by stub leads 13 energizing lugs 14 pressed in from the wall of the cap.
