Abstract
886,862. Ring-twisting machines. T.M.M. (RESEARCH) Ltd. Aug. 24, 1960 [Sept. 8, 1959], No. 30653/59. Class 120(2) In a ring-twisting machine, especially a drawtwister for nylon &c., the ring-holder is retained on the ring-rail by magnetic means, and means are provided for detaching it and guiding it to a lower position so that the package may be removed without interfering with the build of any other package. In Fig. 2, a ring-holder 16 has a depending part 161 slidable on a poker 11 secured to a housing 12 carried by the ring-rail 10; the housing has a magnet 18 attracting an extension 164 of the holder. The holder has depending portions 165, 166 Fig. 3, in which is slidably mounted a bolt 19 normally urged by a spring 21 into a socket 23 in housing 12. To free the ring- holder, the bolt is rotated by a handle 193 for a cam 23 to engage part 166 to withdraw the bolt from the socket, and for a second cam 22 to engage the undersurface of a part 122 of housing 12 to force the ring-holder downwardly to overcome the attraction of the magnet. The holder is now freed to be lowered to a position where the package can be doffed, being guided on the poker by depending part 161. To restore the holder to operative position, it is raised until its bevelled end engages a bevelled face 123 on the housing whereby the bolt is forced back against the action of spring 21 so that it can spring into its socket. The ring-holder is located in operative position by the engagement of a dowel pin in the housing 12 with a hole in the holder. According to the Provisional Specification, the ring-holder has a carriage running on a tube depending from the ring-rail, and a second catch may be provided to secure the holder to the rail, the magnet being dispensed with.
