886,545. Stuffing-box substitutes. LEMFORDER METALLWARENGESELLSCHAFT. Oct. 31, 1960 [Dec. 23, 1959], No. 37353/60. Class 122 (5). [Also in Group XXV] In a ball joint sealed by an elastic packing sleeve 10, the sleeve acts as a lubricant container and has a number of capillary apertures 17 in its wall which are normally closed but are opened to permit escape of old lubricant when the joint is re-charged with lubricant under pressure. The ball head 2 is mounted between bearings 5, 6 in the housing 3 and the sleeve 10, which may be of plastic polymeric material, e.g. polyurethane, is secured to the housing and the ball pin 1 by metal rings 13 and 16 respectively. Lubricant injected through nipple 9 is forced past the head 2 into the interior 11 of the sleeve.
