Abstract

790,655. Locking nuts; anchor-nuts. ELASTIC STOP NUT CORPORATION OF AMERICA. July 29, 1955 [Oct. 14, 1954], No. 21962/55. Class 89(1) A cap-nut 20, Fig. 1, has a sealing-element 26 in a recess 40 around the nut-axis in the bearing-face 36 of the nut, to be compressed against a workpiece and prevent the passage of fluid therepast. The cap 22 is secured in a recess 44 in nut-body 28, which recess also contains a locking-insert 24 of thread-impressionable material, e.g., nylon or fibre. The body has anchoring-lugs. 34 having mounting-holes 38. In a modification, the body 46, Fig. 3, is made in one piece and contains a nut-member 48, which may be of the kind disclosed in Specification 789,395. held therein by a retaining- .ring 50 which is a press-fit in the body. Ring 26 is housed in a recess formed between the body and. retaining-ring, and the recess is of substantially the same volume as the ring.
