Abstract

886,219. Pipe connections. TAIT MANUFACTURING CO. July 5, 1960, No. 23486/60. Class 99(1). A discharge connection for attaching a pump assembly 11 to a pipe 20 comprises an annular discharge housing 21 adapted to be connected to the pump assembly and having an internal annular seat 30, an annular discharge body 22 adapted to be connected to the pipe and proportioned for partial telescoping engagement within the housing and including an annular shoulder 50 arranged to face the seat 30, and a ring 23 of rubber-like material and of generally cylindrical section in the unstressed normal condition thereof. The ring is adapted to be assembled within the housing in telescoping relation with the body and in engagement with both the seat and shoulder, the wall surfaces of the housing and body adjacent the seat and shoulder respectively including ridge portions 33, 53 of radial dimensions differing by less than the radial thickness of the ring in the said normal condition thereof to distort the ring into interlocking relation therewith and securing the housing and body against axial separation while insulating against vibrations and electric current therebetween.
