884,052. Blast furnace walls. ACIERIES DE PARIS ET D'OUTREAU. July 12, 1960 [Aug. 25, 1959], No. 24205/60. Class 51 (2). In a blast furnace without a ring girder supporting the shaft, a cast steel ring 3 disposed between the shaft shell 2 and the shell of the boshes 1 is welded thereto at 4 and 5 respectively and has substantially greater wall thickness. Typical measurements are 40 mms. for the shell of the boshes, 60 mms. for the ring, and 30 mms. for the lower shaft shell. The centre portion of the ring is rounded and an angle of about 150 degrees is enclosed between the generatrices of the frusto-conical end portions.
