Abstract
880,735. Syringes. MULTI-FILL MACHINE CO. Nov. 17, 1959, No. 39016/59. Class 102(2). [Also in Group XVII] A machine for filling containers with liquids or pastes comprises nozzles associated with pistons which dip in to a supply pan and take up measured quantities and then move to a discharge position where the material is expelled into the containers. The machine described fills cavities 78 in a plastic sheet 66 to which a top sheet is sealed after filling to form a series of joined packages, but is applicable to filling jars &c. The nozzles 31 are mounted on a carriage 15 moved between take-up and discharge positions by cam operated linkage. The pistons 32 are mounted on a plate 20 slideable vertically relative to the carriage by piston and cylinder means 21, 22. The plastic sheet 66 is advanced intermittently by bars 69 on conveyer chains 71 and held down by rails 80. At the take-up position, a limit switch 65 is operated causing the means 21, 22 to raise the pistons to draw material from the pan 57. A further switch 65 is operated at the discharge position causing the pistons to discharge the material. The pistons and nozzles may be removed and replaced by those of different capacity and/or spacing.
