Abstract

879,647. Tuning cavity resonators. ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd. May 29, 1958 [May 2, 1957], No. 14063/57. Class 40(8) [Also in Group XL(a)] The combination with a klystron of a microwave resonant structure coupled to the output stage of the klystron comprises a main cavity 1 and an additional cavity 12 coupled thereto through a resonant iris 11, which additional cavity 12 has a flexible wall 13, movement whereof effects the tuning of the main cavity 1. As shown, the main cavity 1 feeds an output waveguide 2, and the flexible wall 13 is a diaphragm which can be moved by a piston 14 provided with a vernier tuning control 15. The outer surface of the diaphragm 13 is readily accessible and may be directly water-cooled.
