Abstract

877,146. Metal plating baths. DEHYDAG DEUTSCHE HYDRIERWERKE G.m.b.H. March 30, 1960 [May 2, 1959], No. 11128/60. Addition to 857,849. Class 41. A metal plating bath has added thereto a wetting agent consisting of a phosphorus acid derivative containing an acylic or cyclic hydrocarbon residue of at least 6 C atoms free of halogen, CN, or SCN groups, or a watersoluble salt thereof. Phosphonic acids are preferred, e.g. n-octyl phosphonic acid-1, methyl cyclohexyl phosphonic acid, or mixtures of similar acids. Salts referred to are alkali metal, ammonium, or alkylamine or alkylamine salts. Such additions prevent the formation of mists in plating baths containing Cu, Ni, Cd, Zn, Au, Ag, Cr, Sn or Cu alloys.
