Abstract

877,099. Gripping devices for lifting articles. BARRY-WEHMILLER MACHINERY CO. Ltd. Oct. 29, 1959, No. 36777/59. Class 78 (4). A bottle 14, or similar article, is pushed out of a cup 132 provided with a resilient gripper 15 by a plunger 17. In the form shown the neck of a bottle is gripped by three spring-pressed balls 15. The cup is mounted by a sleeve 13 to move vertically in a plate 11, which may carry several other grippers, and a spring 16 biases the cup downwardly. The plunger 17 is carried by a rod 171 connected through a compression-spring 21 to a plate 18 in which it slides. The plate 18 slides on pillars 12 on the plate 11 and is biased by springs 19, 20. When bottles are to be ejected plungers 22 are depressed to force the plate 18 downwardly.
